Brandon Tartikoff may be maintaining a lower profile, but he still seems to be keeping tabs on ratings races. Tartikoff provided some congratulatory remarks to Ivan Fecan of pubcaster CBC, who was among those honored during the sixth annual Toronto Women in Film and Television awards.

Fecan, recently appointed CBC VP, English television networks, apprenticed under Tartikoff at NBC. And Tartikoff noted that all of Fecan’s former NBC cohorts likely were proud of his accomplishments. “And they’re not proud of much these days,” Tartikoff quipped.

Fecan was presented with the Friend of TWIFT award, which goes to a male in film or television who has contributed to women’s participation in the Canadian entertainment industry.

Prizes at Thursday’s gala went to actress Tantoo Cardinal (“Dances With Wolves”); Helga Stephenson, executive director of Toronto’s Festival of Festivals; Joan Pennefather of the National Film Board; and filmmaker Anne Wheeler (“Bye Bye Blues”).
