The hopefuls tossing their hats into the programming ring for fall 1994 is increasing.
With more than two months to go before the National Assn. of Television Program Executives confab, syndicator MG Perin is the latest to roll out a project.
It has announced a weekly one-hour “reality ‘Twilight Zone’ series” co-exec produced by former “Hard Copy” exec producer Peter Brennan.
Titled “The Extraordinary,” an American version of a program that airs in Australia and New Zealand, the show explores documented supernatural events, ESP and other unexplained phenomena. It will be targeted for the 25-54 age market.
Brennan, who is now consulting for Twentieth TV’s “A Current Affair” and developing other programming, will co-exec produce the series with the show’s co-creator, Peter Sutton (“Eyewitness News”/Australia).
Nancy Gershwin (“A Current Affair,””Today”) co-created the series and will serve as co-producer.
Actor James Woods, the host of the pilot, is negotiating to host the syndie series, which will be pitched as counterprogramming to “Saturday Night Live.”
