Showtime’s deal includes rights, AIDS donation

Showtime has acquired exclusive worldwide rights to “Sexual Healing,” an original project written, directed and co-produced by Howard Cushnir.

“Sexual Healing” stars Helen Hunt, Anthony Edwards, Jason Alexander, Mare Winningham and Maggie Jakobson in a movie about a lonely man and an unhappily married woman whose lives are changed when they meet on a phone sex line.

The project is produced entirely for charity. Production services were donated or provided at cost including cast, crew, equipment, labs, postproduction and music. As part of its deal, Showtime will donate $ 25,000 to the Minority AIDS Project.

Kosta Iannios of BigRock produced “Sexual Healing” with Cushnir. Eric Lowe co-produced. John Newby is the director of photography and Folmer Weisinger is editor. Music is by Leonard Marcel.

Showtime will air “Sexual Healing” as a one-hour special in late spring.
