The $ 30 billion proposed merger of Tele-Communications Inc. with Bell Atlantic Corp. will be the topic for “The Merger of the Century,” a general session at the National Assn. of Television Program Executives Intl. confab at 9 :15 a.m. Jan. 26.

TCI chief operating officer Brendan Clouston and Bell Atlantic prez James Cullen will discuss the ramifications of the merger. ABC News’ Robert Krulwich will moderate.

CNN correspondent Ken Bode has been named the new host of WETA-TV Washington’s “Washington Week in Review,” the longest-running news program on PBS. His first broadcast will be March 11. He replaces Paul Duke, who is retiring.
