Disney has sold NBC on a series for the spring starring Gaby Hoffman, the 11-year-old girl prominently featured in the movies “Sleepless in Seattle” and “This Is My Life.”
The project, about a young girl dealing with the complexities of growing up, will be produced by Sandollar Prods. — which recently signed an overall deal with Disney — in association with writer-exec producer Bruce Helford’s Mohawk Prods. and Touchstone TV.
Helford, who was an exec producer on “Roseanne” last season, will share those chores on the untitled new series with Sandollar TV president Stu Sheslow and exec VP Gail Berman.
Disney is enjoying some success with another series built around a moppet, the ABC sitcom “Boy Meets World,” starring Ben Savage. Hoffman, who played the precocious neighbor in “Sleepless,” has also appeared in the features “Man Without a Face,””Uncle Buck” and “Field of Dreams.”
