Ralph accepts proposal to be ‘George’s’ TV wife

Sheryl Lee Ralph has been cast as the wife of George Foreman in the sitcom “George,” ABC announced Monday. The comedy stars the former heavyweight champion and junkfood-pitchman as George (Bubba) Foster, a retired prizefighter who takes a job helping troubled kids at a local middle school.

The sitcom, a Katie Face production in association with Columbia TV, will not be hitting the airwaves until the college football season winds down in November and ABC debuts its 8-10 p.m. block, which also includes Disney TV’s “Where I Live” and ABC Prods.’ “The Paula Poundstone Show.”

Ralph is known to TV viewers from her work on the sitcom “Making a Living” a firstrun syndicated continuation of the short-lived ABC series “It’s a Living.” The actress also appeared on CBS’s “Designing Women,” recently co-starred opposite Whoopi Goldberg in the film “Sister Act II” and has a cameo in Universal’s “The Flintstones.”
