Buena Vista Television said that its off-network sitcom “Empty Nest,” debuting this fall, has now been cleared in excess of 90 markets covering almost 80% of the country.
“Empty Nest,” currently in its fifth season on NBC, has been licensed to seven of the top 10 markets.
Newly announced clearances include WWOR, New York; KTVT, Dallas-Ft. Worth; WKBD, Detroit; and WAGA, Atlanta.
Company also said that its 1995 off-network entries “Dinosaurs” and “Blossom” have now been cleared in upward of 40 markets covering in excess of half the country, including 11 top 20 markets. New clearances include KTVT, Dallas; WGNX, Atlanta; KHTV, Houston; WUAB, Cleveland; KSTW, Seattle; KDNF, St. Louis and KPHO , Phoenix.
While “Dinosaurs” is being sold under a two-year, all-barter basis, “Blossom” is being pitched on a three-year cash plus barter arrangement, and the company is banking on the barter element to make the show profitable in off-network syndication.
