Tribune Broadcasting indie KTLA will provide an eight-week test run to “Comedy Compadres,” a half-hour Friday night all-Hispanic comedy show, beginning at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 6.
The series, which could head into syndication if it performs well in the Los Angeles market, will showcase the talents of three Hispanic comics each week.
“Comedy Compadres,” which will be exec produced by standup comic Jeff Valdez, will be broadcast from the Las Palmas Theater in Hollywood.
“The Hispanic market is an untapped resource and we feel this show is a good showcase for young Latino talent,” KTLA station manager John Reardon said.
Earlier this week, KTTV announced that it would provide a summer test run for a new potential network or syndicated series featuring the all-Hispanic comedy sketch group Culture Clash (Daily Variety, July 7).
