Whether ABC renews “The Jackie Thomas Show” or not, it’s looking more and more like it won’t return to Tuesdays at 9:30 next fall.
Not if “Delta,” the Universal TV sitcom starring Delta Burke, can maintain its performance from Tuesday, falling just 20% off its lead-in to score a 16.3 rating, 26 share in Nielsen out of a 20.3/33 for “Roseanne.”
The ratings retention was better than any “Jackie” performance since December and topped every overall rating for the show since Jan. 12.
The Arnolds, meanwhile, continued their campaign to renew “Jackie Thomas” on KTLA’s morning news Wednesday after Roseanne’s Tuesday-night salvo on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.” She and husband Tom Arnold maintained that the couple had qualms about their relationship with ABC because “we don’t want to be in business with people that we’re afraid may make bad business decisions at times.”
A “bad business decision,” in the Arnolds’ eyes, would be failing to renew “Jackie,” which the network has said it won’t decide on officially until it sets its fall schedule in May.
For its part, ABC officials — who couldn’t be reached Tuesday night — had no comment about the latest remarks, though a source quipped that it had “clearly got (ABC’s) attention.””Jackie” is distributed by Lorimar TV and “Roseanne” by the Carsey-Werner Co.
