CBS News has signed a pact with Britain’s Sky News, VTM Belgium and Japan’s TBS Network to cooperate on live coverage of breaking European news using the latest satellite news-gathering technology.
The four broadcasters have also agreed to exchange news on a 24-hour satellite hot line. This will use a Eutelsat transponder footprint covering all of Europe to provide instant coverage of news events via fixed and mobile uplinks across the continent.
The partners expect a number of Europe’s other commercial TV channels to join the network in the near future.
VTM is Europe’s largest broadcast operator of SNG technology, controlling five mobile earth stations across the continent from its state-of-the-art facility in Brussels.
