KCBS-TV consumer reporter David Horowitz is teaming up with independent producer Judy Feder to form a new production company.
Horowitz/Feder Communications will focus on developing and producing “positive action” TV specials and series for cable, network and syndication.
The principals in the firm emphasized the themes and issues dealt with in the programming will represent a new direction for Horowitz. Feder said the company will not try to duplicate the defunct “Fight Back!” series that was broadcast for 18 years on local TV and in syndication.
The first pilot for the production company, based out of KCBS, will air at 6: 30 p.m. Sept. 11. Titled “Best Defense,” the point-of-view show is described by Horowitz as a “survival guide for the ’90s from a different, alternative perspective.”
Relying on new production technology, the magazine program will have Horowitz as the host as well as a staff of field reporters.
