Most top syndie shows took a plunge in the Nielsen national syndication rankings for the week ended Aug. 8, but a few kept their heads above water.
Paramount’s “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “Entertainment Tonight” were the only top-10 shows to tick up a few notches.
Turner Program Services’ spec “National Geographic on Assignment,” meanwhile, made quite a splash by landing in the 10th position with a 6.7 rating.
Another hot performer during the week was MGM Domestic TV Distribution’s off-net “In the Heat of the Night,” which posted an all-time ratings high of 4.0 .
Amid news that yet another talkshow is on the way for fall 1994, — Multimedia Entertainment is teaming with Woody Fraser Prods. and Katz/Rush Entertainment to produce a half-hour strip with health guru Susan Powter — the chat pack shaped up this way:
King World’s “Oprah Winfrey” (9.0) led as usual, followed by Multimedia’s Sally Jessy Raphael” (5.3), Multimedia’s “Donahue” (4.7), Tribune Entertainment’s “Geraldo” (4.5) and Buena Vista Television’s “Live with Regis & Kathie Lee,” which tied with Par’s “Maury Povich” at 4.0.
