CNN commits to H.K.

CNN is increasing its commitment to Hong Kong, according to president Tom Johnson, who is visiting the colony for the launch of Wharf Cable.

Speaking last week at the Foreign Correspondents Club, Johnson, who is also VP for Turner Broadcasting Systems, announced the opening of the regional production center in Hong Kong at Wharf Tower, home of Wharf Cable.

“By the end of 1994, we will be able to do live news out of the center,” Johnson said. “Early 1995 we’ll be looking to switch Business News Asia to a program from the Hong Kong production center.”
