CBS has extended its order on the new Lorimar TV reality series “How’d They Do That?” to keep it on through the May sweeps.

The show, which premiered four weeks ago, has averaged an 11.7 rating/19 share and significantly improved the Eye web’s fortunes in the 8 o’clock hour Wednesday opposite NBC’s “Unsolved Mysteries,” ABC comedies and Fox Broadcasting Co.’s “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

Both CBS and ABC capitalized on a “90210” repeat Wednesday.

The new ABC-Universal sitcom “Home Free” premiered with an 11.0/18 — improving on its “The Wonder Years” lead-in to top every performance of “Doogie Howser, M.D.” in that half-hour since Nov. 18.

“How’d They Do That?” also rebounded from the previous week to an 11.6/19. CBS has ordered a total of 10 episodes of the reality hour from Lorimar, Telepictures Prods. and LMNO Prods. Earlier casualties from the web’s 8 p.m. Wednesday slot this season include “The Hat Squad” and “Space Rangers.”

NBC’s “Unsolved” won the hour, but the night went to ABC thanks to the continued torrid pace of “Home Improvement” and “Coach.”
