NBC will bench the drama “Reasonable Doubts” during the February sweeps as the web tries a variety of program stunts in an effort to boost its Tuesday lineup.
NBC will replace “Doubts” on Feb. 9 (the first Tuesday of sweeps) with a special “Unsolved Mysteries” at 9 p.m. and will preempt both “Quantum Leap” and “Doubts” the following week to make room for a two-hour “Best of the Academy of Country Music Awards” special hosted by Naomi Judd.
On Feb. 23, NBC will air a special two-hour “Quantum” leaping into news magazine “Dateline NBC,” with part two of the miniseries “Ninja Murders” scheduled to air March 2 from 9-11 p.m.
The network stressed that the Lorimar TV hour, which is in its second season and stars Mark Harmon and Marlee Matlin, hasn’t been canceled and will return in March. Both “Quantum” and “Doubts” have struggled this season and will face additional competition starting tonight with the premiere of Fox Broadcasting Co.’s Tuesday lineup.
