Continuing to fatten its motion picture ranks with new clients, the William Morris Agency has signed film director Arthur Hiller from his former home at Creative Artists Agency.

Hiller helmed such films as “The Out-of-Towners,””Love Story,””Plaza Suite, “”The Hospital,””Silver Streak,””The In-Laws,””The Lonely Guy” and more recently , the less successful pix “The Babe” and “Married to It.”

WMA exec VP Leonard Hirshan, a longtime friend of Hiller’s, said signing the director “was a long time in coming and was a relationship that’s been developing for years.”

Hirshan will lead the Morris team that will handle Hiller, which includes veepees Bobbi Thompson and Jim Crabbe.

Before signing with CAA, Hiller had been with the Gersh Agency for more than 25 years.

Hiller joins recent Morris signings of such motion picture clients as Walter Hill, Phil Joanou, Robert Duvall and Matthew Modine.
