Phil Seymour

Phil Seymour, 41, singer/drummer/songwriter with the Dwight Tulley Band, died Aug. 17 in Los Angleles of lymphoma.

Seymour’s recording career began in 1976 when he and his partner, Dwight Tulley, had a top 20 national hit, “I’m on Fire.” In 1981, Seymour had a hit of his own on Neil Bogart’s Boardwalk label, “Precious to Me.”

He later joined the L.A.-based band the Textones, with whom he recorded their debut album and toured the U.S. and Europe

Seymour worked with Tom Petty, singing background and harmony on singles “Breakdown” and “American Girl.”
