Mary Carter

Mary Carter, legit and TV actress, died of a respiratory illness Dec. 12 in Norwalk, Conn.

She was 55.

Her Off Broadway credits include “Why Hanna’s Skirt Won’t Stay Down” at the Village Gate, “The Caseworker” at Playwrights Horizons and “Listen to the Duchess” at the Renoir Theatre.

She starred as Nurse Ratched in national tours of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and made several appearances on the ABC soap opera “All My Children.”

She is survived by her parents, two sisters, a son and two grandchildren.

An afternoon remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Westport Women’s Club in Westport, Conn.

Contributions may be made to the American Lung Assn.
