John P. John

John P. John, a milliner to the stars known professionally as Mr. John, died of a heart attack June 25.

He was 91.

John dominated hat making in the 1940s and 1950s. Vivien Leigh wore one of his hats in “Gone With the Wind.” Marlene Dietrich wore one in “Shanghai Express ,” and Greta Garbo sported one of his creations in “The Painted Veil.”
