Guy Bonson Hemric

MAITLAND, Fla. — Guy Bonson Hemric, 61, who wrote lyrics for “Beach Blanket Bingo” and other beach movies starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon, died Jan. 10 of cancer.

Hemric broke into songwriting in Hollywood in the 1950s. His first success was “What Good Does It Do Me?” which became a hit in Europe for Petula Clark.

He moved to Florida in 1981 and worked as an administrative assistant at Orlando Regional Medical Center and later as administrative assistant for the Florida Symphony Orchestra.
