John Degan has joined U.S. Satellite Broadcasting as manager of operations. He’ll be responsible for getting the start-up direct broadcast satellite service running by March 1994 and for its operation thereafter.
Audrey D. Gelb has been named manager, production administration, at Columbia Pictures TV. He was administrative coordinator since moving to the company’s Los Angeles office in 1989.
Samantha Goodman hasjoined David Rotman Prods. of Santa Monica as director of development. Goodman comes from Concorde Pictures and was an associate producer at CNN. Rotman was a co-producer of “Cliffhanger.”

Robin Baum has been promoted to director of the entertainment division at Rogers & Cowan. A six-year R&C veteran, Baum’s clients include Ray Liotta, Judith Light and Mariel Hemingway.
Anne Marie Riccitelli has been named director, public relations, East Coast, at ABC, a new post coordinating national print campaigns. Riccitelli was manager of magazine publicity at ABC, where she’s worked since 1974.
Jim Sheehan has joined Sony’s Triumph Releasing as Western managing director. He’ll supervise the L.A. office and supervise sales, bookings and billings for Triumph product in the West and Columbia and TriStar pix in secondary markets throughout the region. He was with Benchmark Enterprises and before that with Mann Theaters.
Encore Media Corp. has appointed Timothy Ryerson VP, planning and scheduling. He’ll be responsible for program content and scheduling of Encore and its thematic multiplex channels. He had been at Showtime Networks.
