Unapix Entertainment intends to establish a subsidiary to handle video marketing and distributionand has named former Academy Entertainment prexy Robert E. Baruc prez/chief executive of the venture. Unapix has entered into its first video distribution agreement with ACI, the consortium of independent producers, for exclusive homevideo rights to the company’s slate of made-for-TV movies.
Unapix is also looking to acquire additional theatrical and TV titles.
Robert T. Fleming has been named senior VP, finance and administration, for Fox’s basic cable division. Fleming held the same post with Twentieth TV. He will oversee the division’s financial operations, administrative areas, broadcast operations and traffic.
Warner Bros. has upped Susan Parker VP, financial budgeting. Parker, formerly with accounting firm Arthur Anderson & Co., will be responsible for budgeting and cash-flow projections.
Ronni Pollack has been named VP, domestic licensing, of the Paramount Communications Licensing Group. She’ll oversee domestic licensing sales of all Par properties, develop plans, oversee acquisition of new properties and direct expansion of existing properties.
Sony Pictures Entertainment has upped Shelly Bunge to director of music business affairs. Bunge, who as senior counsel of music legal for the filmed entertainment group was heavily involved in the “Last Action Hero” soundtrack, will negotiate music rights and properties for the motion picture and television companies of that unit.
Bruce Charet, who joined Bud Grant Prods. last year as adirector, has been promoted to VP, creative affairs. Charet was a VP at Alan King Prods. and Cinema 7 Intl. Grant recently entered into a non-exclusive first-look deal with Warner Bros. Television.
Faith Grobman has been promoted to VP, human resources, for Showtime Networks. The cable web also upped John Warrack to employment director and Brett McCarty to director of the New York Metro region.
