Services were held Dec. 26 for Elliot Fields, carpet industry executive and the brother of producer Freddie Fields, who died Dec. 23 in Los Angeles. He was 74.
Fields, who was born in Brooklyn, founded Edward Fields Inc., with his older brother in 1949, and was an innovator in the carpet industry, whose contributions include the design and operation of the first major hand-tufting mill in the U.S.
In 1992, Fields was the recipient of the International Industry Foundation’s “Merit Award.”
In addition to his brother, Fields is survived by his sister Cis Ryerson, daughters Meredith Goodrow and “General Hospital” executive producer Wendy Riche , six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Greenpeace Organization.
