Bernard Barrow, 65, Emmy-winning actor best known for his 13-year role on the soap opera “Ryan’s Hope,” died Aug. 4 in New York of lung cancer.
Barrow played Johnny Ryan on “Ryan’s Hope” from 1975 to 1988. He also played Louie Slavinsky on “Loving,” for which he won an Emmy as best supporting actor in 1991.
He appeared in numerous Off Broadway plays. His film credits include “Rachel, Rachel” and “Serpico.”
Barrow also taught drama at Brooklyn College from 1955 to 1983 and directed summer stock and community theater.
