With an apparent eye on widening its global stature, NATPE Intl. yesterday named Bruce Johansen, Multimedia Entertainment’s West Coast international sales and programming VP, as its next president.
Johansen’s two-year deal becomes effective April 1, when he’ll succeed longtime NATPE president Phil Corvo, who’ll continue as a consultant with the org through the duration of his contract in 1995.
Multimedia president Robert L. Turner said Johansen will stay on with the company through the end of February and that no successor has yet been chosen.
Johansen was a unanimous choice of the board of directors.
“It’s clear that (NATPE’s) future lies in international expansion,” emphasized Johansen.
There is no other forum such as NATPE that provides domestically for an exchange of international ideas, he said. “And I think there’s an opportunity for us to expand in that area. …”
