Fox TV Stations boosts Stern

Mitchell Stern has been upped to prexy and chief operating officer of Fox Television Stations.

Announcement was made concurrently with confirmation that Leslie Hinton, prexy-CEO of News America Publishing and recently named member of the Fox board of directors, has been named chairman-CEO of the O&O and news wing (Daily Variety, Jan. 11).

Stern, who will continue to directly manage and oversee the station group’s day-to-day activities, has been exec veepee and chief operating officer of the Fox O&Os since May 1992.

He joined Fox as VP-chief financial officer of the TV stations in July 1986, then became veep-station manager of KTTV in September 1989. The exec was provided the additional title of O&O senior veepee in 1991.
