It’s going to take a little longer to call roll at Fox Inc.’s board meetings from now on, with the addition of four new directors bringing membership to seven.
The additions are just-named Fox Broadcasting Co. chairman Lucie Salhany, 20 th Century Fox chairman Peter Chernin and News America Publishing president Les Hinton, as well as outgoing Fox Broadcasting prez Jamie Kellner.
Those newcomers join three existing members: Fox chairman-CEO Rupert Murdoch, exec VP-chief operating officer Chase Carey and News Corp. chief financial officer David Devoe. In a statement, Murdoch said of the expansion, “We felt the company would be well-served to have broader representation from the various Fox companies and News Corp., and I look forward to continued success under the new structure.”
Murdoch has been closely involved, particularly since Barry Diller left last February, in running all areas of his sprawling Fox and News Corp. holdings. While the beefed-up board will have a greater advisory role and look a bit more official, then, insiders point out that the seven principal components will still spell Murdoch.
