Trio will head Elektra’s revamped marketing arm

Elektra Records yesterday tapped three new executives to head up a revamped marketing department, naming Ellen Darst, Jim Henke and Jeff Jones to its team.

Darst will hold the title of senior VP of marketing and product development; Henke will be veep of product development; and Jones will be veepee of marketing.

All will report to David Bither, Elektra senior VP and general manager.

“Marketing strength is an increasingly critical determinant of a label’s success,” said Bither, adding, “this is the culmination of a process that began with additions made to our marketing field staff and the restructuring of our promotion department.”

Darst joins Elektra from Principle Management Inc., where she helmed marketing of records and international touring for U2. Her resume includes stints in artist development at Warner Bros.

Henke is best known as the music editor of Rolling Stone. He then became the VP and editorial director of the magazine’s music projects division. Jones was most recently at Polygram Label Group as VP of marketing.
