Bertelsmann Music Group has formed a United Kingdom office of its BMG Kidz division, designed to license U.K. and international family entertainment product. Bill Gaden will head BMG Kidz U.K.

“Bill researched the U.K. children’s market based on the success of BMG Kidz in the United States and was very enthusiastic about beginning a similar operation over there,” said John Preston, chairman of BMG Records U.K. Ltd.

“I am sure that through Bill’s leadership, BMG Kidz U.K will be a tremendous success.”

BMG Kidz U.K. has already completed two licensing deals — onefor audio rights to the popular BBC animated series “Spider” and one for an animated video based on the “Monster in My Pocket” toy.

BMG Kidz U.K. will enter the British market in early June with 17 audio and five video titles. The product will be marketed and distributed through traditional channels and non-traditional placements in bookstores, toy retailers and children’s specialty shops.
