New Capitol Records president Gary Gersh has named the first two members of his executive team, bringing aboard two key A&R players.

Gersh, who sources say is close to finalizing his upper-level executive team, has agreed to terms with former A&M Records A&R executive Patrick Clifford.

In addition, former Liberty Records A&R exec Kim Buie will also take a Capitol A&R slot. Both will be based in Los Angeles.

Buie’s addition is actually an intra-company transfer. She formerly headed the non-country music division of EMI’s Nashville-based Liberty Records, called OCM for “other than country music.” That division has been mothballed, leaving Liberty exclusively a country music label.

Terri Santisi, executive VP/general manager of the EMI Records Group North America, confirmed Buie’s appointment and the changes at Liberty, and indicated Clifford is close to signing but has not yet officially inked his pact.
