Brooks to fund Education Town

Liberty recording artist Garth Brooks has committed $ 1 million to fund the Youth Education Town in Gateway Plaza, the crossroads of Watts, Willowbrook, Compton and Lynwood at Rosecrans and Central Ave.

The funds will be raised through two benefit concerts to be held at the Great Western Forum this Friday at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Both shows are sold out.

The total proceeds from all ticket and merchandising sales will be donated by Brooks, who will make up the difference if the figure does not reach $ 1 million.

The NFL Experience and United Way will also be making donations to the creation of the Youth Education Town. Brooks will also sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl Sunday.
