Bertelsmann Music Group has signed a joint venture with Nashville Contemporary Christian music power Blanton/Harrell Inc. through BMG Ventures. The deal gives BMG a 50% stake in Blanton/Harrell management and the Reunion Records label.
In addition, BMG Music Publishing has agreed to buy 100% of Reunion Music Group’s catalog of copyrights and will jointly establish a new publishing company.
Reunion previously had a distribution agreement with Geffen Records for new artists and catalog recordings. It was founded in 1982 by Amy Grant’s managers, Dan Harrell and Mike Blanton.
Reunion Records has a roster of 10 artists and a catalog of 70 albums and six videos, including such acts as Michael W. Smith, Kim Hill, Rich Mullins, Kathy Troccoli, Ashley Cleveland and Gary Chapman.
Songwriters signed exclusively to Reunion include Wayne Kirkpatrick, Mike-E, Marty McCall, Steve Griffith, Scott Parker and Hill, Mullins and Troccoli.
Under the new agreement, RCA Records will begin to promote Smith’s new release “Somebody Love Me” and heavily promote his new tour, which starts Jan. 29.
