Atlantic Records has promoted Val Azzoli to exec VP/general manager of the label, according to co-chairman/co-CEO Doug Morris.Azzoli, formerly the label’s seniorVP/general manager, will continue to oversee day-to-day operations at Atlantic. “Since joining the Atlantic family just three years ago, Val has played a central role in realigning and fine-tuning a number of areas within the company, with a focus on long-range artist development,” said Morris. “In particular, he has been instrumental in developing custom-tailored marketing strategies designed to utilize a wide spectrum of both traditional and non-traditional avenues for artist exposure and sales. Our current success is due in no small part to Val’s creativity and hard work.” Azzoli, based in New York, joined Atlantic in June 1990.
