Anne Archer, Dan Aykroyd, Bette Midler, Tom Skerritt, Carol Burnett and Jay Leno will be presenters at the Golden Globes Jan. 23 at the BevHilton.
Barbara Zicka Smith, a longtime associate of the late Gary Essert and Gary Abrahams, has been promoted to exec director of the American Cinematheque.
Cinematheque chairman Peter Dekom said Smith’s top priorities will be finding a permanent home for the operation and selecting a new artistic director.
The Palm Springs Intl. Film festival has added two screenings. Sneak preview Jan. 17 will be Italy’s “Puerto Escondido,” directed by Gabriele Salvatores (“Mediterraneo”). That same night will see the North American premiere of Great Britain’s “Clothes in the Wardrobe,” directed by Waris Hussein and starring Jeanne Moreau, Joan Plowright and Julie Walters. In another event, Liv Ullmann, Ray Bradbury, Howard W. Koch, Steve Ginsberg, Paul Bartel, Nick Evans and Gary Sinyor will participate in a discussion, “Screenwriting: From the Page to the Set, Who Has the Final Word?” Sesh moderated by Julian Myers will be held tomorrow at the Annenberg Theatre.
