Tom Carson, former chief financial officer for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, will join Spelling Entertainment in the same capacity.
Carson begins today as CFO/senior VP.
He will oversee financial and administrative matters, human resources, insurance and management information services for the company’s film and television divisions.
“Apart from Tom Carson’s special financial experience and capabilities, we are looking to him to help further Spelling Entertainment’s growth,” chief operating officer Ron Lightstone said in announcing the appointment.
In 1985 Carson joined MGM, where he negotiated the studio’s credit lines with Credit Lyonnais Bank Nederland and Bank of America; structured various financing arrangements to fund MGM’s production and distribution operations and directed other domestic and international financing opportunities for the company.
Carson, a former partner with Arthur Anderson & Co., replaces John Brady, who ankled Spelling in June.
