The Film Information Council has voted Warner Bros. its Excellence in Film Marketing Award for July for “Free Willy.”
The award will be presented to the film studio’s marketing department, headed by Rob Friedman, president of worldwide advertising and publicity.
The Hollywood org began issuing monthly marketing prizes to film distributors 11 months ago. This is Warner Bros.’ second win, after November’s “Malcolm X.”
FIC is a 33-year-old organization of marketing, public relations and promotion executives.
