DirecTv Inc. has pacted with Universal Pictures to provide films for its direct broadcast satellite service.
Universal will supply current release films to the service in a standard pay-per-view window.
The studio joins Paramount and Columbia/TriStar, as well as five programming channels from Turner Broadcasting System, including Cable News Network.

The service of 50 channels will be available to consumers in 1994 for an estimated $ 700, including an 18-inch satellite receiver and TV set-top decoder.
