The American Film Institute has expanded duties of national exhibition director Ken Wlaschin to include the vice chairmanship of the AFI’s Preservation Center.

He said his first project will be the promotion and distribution of its new publication on films of the 1930s.

“The Great Pumpkin,” Italy’s entry for the foreign-language Oscar, will screen at 10 a.m. daily for a week at the AMC Century 14 beginning Friday.

Fox Broadcasting Co. has scheduled the two-hour pilot for the Universal sci-fi series “Mantis” to air in its movie slot Jan. 24. No regular time period has been set for the hour series.
