NBC will air “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” Dec. 12 to counterprogram CBS’ three-hour movie “Gypsy.””E.T.,” which was acquired by NBC after two Thanksgiving runs on CBS (Daily Variety, Oct. 13), will follow a 90-minute airing of “Jetsons: The Movie.” The Peacock web has also skedded its annual Bob Hope Christmas special for 8-10 p.m. Dec. 15.

Deadline to enter Aspen Shortsfest, a qualifying competition for Academy Award nomination, is Dec. 10. The event, scheduled Feb. 24-27, is open to professional and student filmmakers, with exhibition-quality 16mm or 35mm films judged on concept/execution, originality/creativity, style/technical excellence.
