David Twohy, scripter of “The Fugitive,” will exec produce his original screenplay “Terminal Velocity.” It will be produced by Interscope Communications for Hollywood Pictures and be released by Buena Vista. The action-adventure, which revolves around skydiving and international espionage, will begin principal photography in December.
Actor Lenny Von Dohlen will make his directoral debut with “Situation Wanted.” The psychological drama, in which he’ll also star, is slated for production in March by Sneak Preview Prods. Scripted by newcomer Miles Mallone, the film will be produced by Steven J. Wolfe and James J. Mellon. Von Dohlen, who appeared in “Leaving Normal” and “Twin Peaks,” will star in two other films for Sneak Preview: “Tollbooth,” to be directed by Salome Breziner and produced by Wolfe, and “35 Sunset Avenue,” to be written by Mallone and produced by Wolfe and Mellon.

Clarence Page, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and a nationally syndicated columnist out of Chicago, joins superstation WGN-TV Sept. 15 as its political commentator and analyst from Washington. Page has appeared regularly on BET’s weekly news program, NPR’s “Weekend Sunday,” PBS docus, “The McLaughlin Group”and “The MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour.”
Monica Chang, former media supervisor for Hispanic ad agency Font & Vaamonde, has been appointed planner for Western Intl. Media’s new multicultural group. She’ll be responsible for all media planning, including TV and radio. The L.A.-based multicultural group claims to be the country’s first multiple-language media buying and planning service.
E! Entertainment Television will air four specials devoted to the Primetime Emmy Awards, beginning with “Primetime’s Brightest: The 1993 Emmy Awards,” premiering Aug. 21 and repeating through the Emmycast Sept. 19. The service will also air a pre-show, post-show and 30-minute highlight show that will air the day after the ABC broadcast.
