“Reckless Kelly,” the new pic from Yahoo Serious, and one of the most expensive Oz films ever made, turned in a solid Easter weekend opening of $ 902, 000 from 129 screens.
The $ 13 million comedy — helmed, co-produced, co-written and co-starring Serious — grabbed the No. 1 spot from “National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon” with a $ 6,700 per-screen average.
Warner Bros. is handling the film outside Australia; domestically it’s distribbed by Village Roadshow, a major backer of the pic. (A review of “Reckless Kelly” appears on page 13.)
