ITV reinks with Sony Pictures

The U.K.’s ITV commercial network has signed its largest film acquisition deal with a major Hollywood studio, a renewal of its long-standing relationship with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The package includes recent hits from Columbia TriStar, such as “Sleepless in Seattle,””In the Line of Fire” and “Last Action Hero,” as well as upcoming releases including “The Age of Innocence” and “Philadelphia.”

Also part of the deal are miniseries and telepix from Columbia Pictures TV and TriStar TV as well as a number of classic SPE library titles, among them “A Man for All Seasons” and “Midnight Express.”

“This agreement is mutually beneficial, providing the ITV network with a dependable pipeline of … commercially and critically exciting movies and telefilms, and giving SPE an important showcase for our product in the U.K.,” said Nicholas Bingham, president of Columbia TriStar Intl. Television.
