Hollywood Pictures has reached a basic agreement with “Forever Young” helmer Steve Miner to direct “Tempted,” which is tentatively targeted to start production in January, sources said Monday.
In development at Hollywood under the title “Mrs. Faust” for almost two years , the pic has drawn interest alternately from Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin.
It is believed that scheduling conflicts will prevent Martin from starring in the pic, while Hawn’s status was unclear.
“Tempted,” to be produced by Laurence Mark (“Huck Finn,””Mr. Destiny, “”Working Girl”), is a comedy “about an overly ambitious schlepper from hell who decides to tempt the most untemptable and virtuous person in America.”
Budget is estimated at $ 20 million to $ 30 million, depending on the cast. As an A-list director, Miner will enjoy considerable latitude in rounding out the production and casting the Disney pic.
At Hollywood Pictures, “Tempted” falls under the aegis of studio veepee of production Mike Stenson and creative executive Jim Wedaa. Neither executive returned telephone calls.
Acquired as a spec screenplay by Hollywood Pictures in the early buying days of the company, “Tempted” was originally penned by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White. A recent rewrite by Neil Cuthbert helped bring the pic to the fore.
