Actress Sandra Bullock, who will soon be seen in Warners’ “Demolition Man,” has pushed the pedal to the metal, being cast to star opposite Keanu Reeves in the action-adventure bus pic “Speed” for 20th Century Fox.
The pic, to be directed by Jan De Bont and produced by Mark Gor-don, begins filming Sept. 1.
It’s about a morally ambivalent cop who must remove a bomb from beneath a speeding bus, as it will detonate once the bus drops below 50 mph.
UTA’s Cynthia Shelton and manager Tom Chestaro negotiated the deal.
Bullock was a last-minute casting replacement on “Demolition Man” in March after actress Lori Petty was fired over creative differences with producer Joel Silver. She plays a cop who meets up with Sylvester Stallone.
The Warners film opens Oct. 8.
Bullock recently wrapped “Wrestling Ernest Hemingway,” the Randa Haines-directed film produced by Todd Black and Joe Wizan, skedded for a Christmas release.
