Eighteen film teachers from the U.S. and Canada will get a taste of Hollywood this week as part of the DGA Educators Workshop on film production.
The workshop, which runs through Friday, will include seminars, panel discussions and screenings focused on directing feature films, TV movies, sitcoms, pilots and episodic TV.
Participants will also make a field trip to Northern California to tour George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch and the Industrial Light & Magic facility.
Tours of the Disney and CBS facilities as well as a party hosted by former DGA prexy George Sidney are also on the agenda.
Current DGA president Gene Reynolds and exec director Glenn Gumpel will address the group this morning followed by a screening and discussion of two films, including the newly updated film history of the DGA called “Directors in Action”and Time mag critic Richard Schickel’s “Hollywood on Hollywood.”
