‘Banquet’ corrals Horses

Samuel Goldwyn Co.’s “The Wedding Banquet” won six of Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards over the weekend.

“Banquet,” the Taiwanese entry in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ foreign-language film race, won for best film in the Golden Horse competition and a separate audience award for most popular film. Ang Lee won as best director.

Sihung Lung, playing the father, won for supporting actor, and Ah-Leh Gua won the supporting actress award for her performance as the mother.

Ang, Neil Peng and James Schamus won for screenplay.
