Universal-based Amblin Entertainment has optioned Bari Wood’s horror-thriller novel, “Doll’s Eyes,” for what sources said was a “healthy option against a substantial purchase price.”

The deal was hammered out by William Morris agent Amy Schiffman in collaboration with Owen Laster, Morris exec VP and worldwide head of literary operations.

“Doll’s Eyes,” about a serial killer, a cop and a psychic, will be published in July by William Morrow.

According to sources, no screenwriter has been hired by Amblin to begin the adaptation.
