Orion Home Video has entered into an agreement with the Phoenix Communications Group to distribute the latter’s lucrative Major League Baseball homevideo product. The deal signals Orion’s immediate entry into the $ 200 million sports and excercise homevid arena.“This will help us enter the non-theatrical marketplace with an instant high-profile product,” said Herb Dorfman, OHV senior veep. “Phoenix’s homevideo catalog is unique in our industry.” The Major League Baseball catalog comprises more than 107 titles, including the official World Series videos, the TV series “This Week in Baseball” with Mel Allen, team histories and blooper vids. “Orion Home Video was selected to be our U.S. marketer because of its expertise in sell-through (homevideo),” said Jim Holland, president Phoenix Communications Group. Phoenix also operates Sports Newsatellite, a daily satellite feed of sports highlights, interviews and feature material from major sporting events across the country to more than 180 TV stations.
