As expected, Orion Home Video and Fox Lorber Home Video have signed a distribution deal to market each other’s homevideo titles in the United States and Canada.Fox Lorber Home Video, which primarily markets its releases via telemarketers , has more than 70 titles in its homevideo catalog, and will use Orion’s in-house regional sales force to help market both firms’ catalog titles. FLHV is the vid arm of Fox Lorber Associates Inc., a 12-year-old worldwide film and television distribution company. Distri deal The distribution deal will give FLHV access to Orion’s 750-title catalog, which includes the highly successful “Dances With Wolves.” Orion will take advantage of Lorber’s extensive knowledge of marketing foreign and niche films. The strategy fits well into Orion’s plans to aggressively exploit its line of classic films, such as the original “The Vanishing” and “In the Realm of the Senses,” which have primarily been sold in the sell-through marketplace. Sell-through and direct marketing are also areas of expertise of FLHV. Fox Lorber expects to release 20 to 24 titles per year under the new deal. Critically acclaimed Orion films “Night and Day” and “Palombella Rossa” will be among the first homevid releases set for January 1994 street dates.
