The Video Software Dealers Assn. has tapped its annual Retailer of the Year nominees. Winners will be honored at the Homer Awards banquet July 14 in Las Vegas, closing night of the org’s convention.
Retailers are nominated and chosen by VSDA’s Manufacturers Advisory Committee via a write-in nomination. Votes were cast based on such criteria as awareness of new product and commitment of inventory in breadth and depth.
Small retailer nominees (one to five stores) are J&R Music World of New York; L.A. Video, Wyndmoor, Pa.; Movies Unlimited, Philadelphia; Troy Video, Troy, Mich.; and Video Station, Lincoln, Neb.
Medium retailer nominees (six to 20 stores) include Blockbuster of Birmingham , Ala.; Box Office Video of Portage, Ind.; Title Wave Stores of Plymouth, Minn.; Video City of Bakersfield; and Videosmith of Allston, Mass.
Large retailer nominees (over 21 stores) are Blockbuster Entertainment, Fort Lauderdale, Fla,; Palmer Video, Union, N.J.; Tower Records & Video, West Sacramento; and Video Watch, Ann Arbor, Mich.
Canadian retailer nominees are Jumbo Video of Oshawa, Ontario; and Rogers Video of Richmond, British Columbia.
Non-video specialty retailer of the year nominees are Schnuck Markets of St. Louis and Wegman’s of Rochester, N.Y.
